Tax administrator

We are currently looking for a Tax Administrator for our Cape Town office. This role falls within the Tax Department and reports to the Tax Directors and Senior Tax Manager. Below is a guideline of the role and responsibilities, qualifications and requirements.
Role and responsibilities
The role includes, but is not limited to the following:
- Attending to the completion, submission and finalisation of SARS registrations or applications for all tax types, including but not limited to, any Income Tax, VAT, Payroll taxes, and Customs registrations.
- Attending to submissions, updates or assistance with verification of taxpayer’s Public Officer details, entity details or banking details.
- Attending to the deregistration of tax types, including following up until finalisation.
- Assisting by attending to all tax assignments as required or as assigned to you.
- Attend to tax clearance applications and provisional tax submissions as assigned to you.
- Performing SARS trips as and when required.
- Liaising with SARS where required to achieve resolution on all assigned matters across all tax types.
- Liaising with clients and internal staff to obtain and relay information.
- Maintaining client database on GreatSoft with information downloaded from eFiling securing an accurate database.
- Distribution and monitoring of SARS correspondence, assessments, queries, request for supporting documents to the department's Tax Compliance Officers.
- Ad-hoc administration duties in respect of maintaining client database, electronic document retention received from clients and SARS.
- Be willing to learn from Senior Tax Compliance Officers and Tax Manager and assist them with day-to-day administration.
- Adherence to the profession's confidentiality requirements.
- Adherence to the firm's ethics and independence policies.
- Guarding the integrity of the Practice Administration system.
- Daily recording of time.
- Assisting with the analysis and generation of fee notes for billing purposes in respect of certain completed tax assignments.
Qualification and experience
- Matric/Grade 12 qualification
- Experience in a tax environment and/or similar role, specifically in an Accounting or Audit industry, would be beneficial
- Basic tax knowledge
- SARS eFiling experience
- GreatSoft experience would be beneficial
- Computer literacy (MS Outlook, Word, Excel)
