RSM recently spoke to the first year accounting students at the University of Johannesburg. Below follows information on the suggested study timetable we discussed.

In order to succeed and thrive in your first year as well as throughout your academic career, students should strive to study a minimum 40 hours per week. This includes studying, preparation for classes as well as attending your classes and tutorials. Above is the study timetable guideline on how to space out your class and tutorial attendance as well as study time in order to keep on track with your course content. Always remember hard work equals success!

  • Always be well prepared for your classes.
  • Take time to read through your study guide in order to prepare for class and check on blackboard for notifications from lecturers.
  • Make a list of questions that you would like to clear up during class and tutorial
  • Always attend class, There’s always tips and clues in the class sessions
  • Make sure you put in 3 to 4 hours of study time in the evening in order to stay on track and ensure that you are well prepared and updated on your academic programme.
  • Always set a routine time to study.
  • Have fun responsibly, make sure on weekends you set time to study and time to socialise
