Steve Hayes

Chair, Audit Partner

Steve is RSM New Zealand Chair and an Audit Partner within the Auckland Central office. Steve has been with RSM since 2002.

Steve’s background involves time in other mid-tier firms, as well as four years with a Big 4 firm.

With a strong technical focus and personable presentation style Steve is regularly sought after to provide training in areas such as Assurance and IFRS. Past roles have included chairing the Trans-Tasman Audit Advisory Committee to CA ANZ. Recognition of his skills in this area have seen Steve present for RSM both locally and internationally, as well as for other chartered accountancy groups such as the NZ CA network.

Steve has a real passion for audit and assurance and believes that his experience can make a difference and add value to RSM clients. He believes that by reviewing client systems and internal controls we are likely to identify opportunities to reduce risk and improve our clients’ business results.

Qualifications 

Steve graduated from the University of Otago with a Bachelor of Commerce. Steve is a Qualified Auditor, Chartered Accountant and a member of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CA ANZ). Steve is also an Approved Auditor of the Office of the Auditor-General in New Zealand.

Personal

Steve is married to Val and has two children. His spare time is mainly doing outdoor activities and partaking in his own favourite pastimes of travel and drinking good red wine. In giving his time back to the community, Steve sits on two charitable trust boards as well as being involved in local service clubs.
