Michiel Buiteman

Michiel is a Partner at RSM Netherlands and leads the firm’s Financial Services practice. He has broad experience across the financial sector, working with clients in asset management, private equity and venture capital, payments, lending and other financial services.

His work combines audit and assurance with a broader understanding of the challenges facing financial institutions, including governance, internal control, financial reporting, technology and regulatory change. This broad perspective enables him to support clients in complex and rapidly evolving environments, particularly where finance, regulation and technology intersect.

As both a Chartered Accountant and Chartered IT Auditor, Michiel brings together financial and technological expertise. He has extensive experience with IT-dependent business models and control environments and with the laws and regulations that shape the financial sector.

Financial reporting is another core area of Michiel’s expertise. He advises on complex reporting matters under both IFRS and Dutch GAAP and leads RSM Netherlands’ IFRS activities.

Internationally, Michiel is a member of RSM International’s Global Financial Services Leadership Team. In this role, he works with colleagues across the RSM network to strengthen cross-border collaboration, share expertise and further develop RSM’s international Financial Services capabilities.
