Chris Jones
Financial Adviser - Adelaide

Chris Jones is a Financial Adviser in the Adelaide office.

He brings a calm, strategic and people-first approach to financial planning, offering tailored advice that aligns with each client’s personal goals, lifestyle and long-term aspirations.

Working with a broad spectrum of individuals and families which includes wealth builders, retirees and clients in the South Australian public sector, Chris is passionate about delivering clarity in an increasingly complex financial environment. He supports clients in areas such as retirement planning, superannuation structuring, investment strategies, aged care planning, inter-generation wealth transfer and Centrelink entitlements.

For clients navigating significant life transitions or managing multigenerational wealth, Chris provides a steady hand and an empathetic ear, ensuring their financial strategies reflect both logic and lived experience. A key area of focus for Chris is succession planning, particularly for clients in regional South Australia. He has developed a deep understanding of the unique dynamics facing families who run generational farms and agribusinesses. These clients often face difficult conversations around wealth transfer, competing family interests and the need to preserve both business continuity and family harmony.

Chris has been privileged to step beyond the boardroom and onto the farm, being involved in the often complex, emotional and tough financial discussions and decisions. His ability to communicate clearly, listen deeply and translate complex regulations into practical solutions makes him a trusted adviser to families navigating critical decisions.

"I love being able to provide strategic advice that not only improves my clients’ financial position but also gives them peace of mind for the future."

Since joining RSM in 2020, Chris has worked with a wide variety of clients, but one case stands out as a powerful example of his impact. A client came to him believing they had no hope of accessing Centrelink benefits due to their income and asset position. Chris provided a strategic restructure of their financial assets in a compliant and considered way, enabling the client to unlock approximately $18,000 in annual Centrelink payments for the next five years. The outcome not only improved their financial situation but also brought a profound sense of reassurance and relief. It’s this kind of real-world result where technical advice translates into tangible quality-of-life improvements that drives Chris each day.rewards

Before embarking on his financial advice career, Chris worked in Internal Audit and Finance Administration for SkyCity Adelaide Casino, preceded by several years in hospitality. That background sharpened his ability to build rapport quickly and communicate effectively with people from all walks of life, skills that remain at the heart of his client relationships today. His transition from paraplanning to fully qualified Financial Adviser included passing the official Financial Adviser Exam and logging thousands of hours of supervised practice, an achievement he considers a defining milestone in his professional journey.

Chris thrives on the diversity of his role, finding fulfilment in the fact that no two clients are the same. Whether it’s a young professional just starting to build wealth, a family managing intergenerational assets or a retiree seeking peace of mind, Chris tailors every piece of advice to reflect the unique story and goals of the individual. He believes financial planning is about more than just numbers, it’s about understanding people and empowering them to make confident, informed choices.

Outside of work, Chris loves travelling, drinking coffee or red wine and pottering around the Adelaide Hills with his wife and two sausage dog children. He’s also a self-confessed food lover with an extreme sweet tooth, always on the lookout for the next great dessert.
