Our final segment of the coffee conversation series for 2020 includes Steve Healey catching up over a virtual coffee with GBST Chief Financial Officer, Matthew Walton.

With 5 offices across Australia, Hong Kong, and UK, GBST focuses on creating vital technology solutions for the world’s leading capital markets and wealth management organisations. In their chat, Matthew shares with Steve the history of the company, as well as the challenges it has experienced, and not just due to the impacts of COVID-19 shutdowns, which has seen the company’s one hundred staff members from the UK office being in lock down and working from home since March 2020. The Head office in Brisbane seems to have been least impacted, and the return of team members back to the office saw a significant improvement in staff morale and overall connectivity.

Matthew shares GBST’s decision to  introduce ‘Lunch to Go,’ an initiative to bring its team members together by providing a daily lunch for those in the office that has been most well-received, as well as provide a reflection on his personal experience and key learnings from leading his team throughout 2020.

Coffee Conversations is a series of short videos, hosted by Steve Healey – Partner, RSM Australia, and involve an informal coffee chat to gain a better understanding of who Steve’s guest is, and more about their background (both personally and professionally). The series is aimed at providing an insight into some of the challenges and opportunities encountered in business, the approach taken, and the ‘silver lining’ identified along the way.
