In our latest Coffee Conversation in the series, Steve Healey catches up with Richard Hopkins, learning more about his extensive career, and current role as Professor of Practice at UNSW.

In their chat, Richard shares with Steve an insight into his early beginnings, which saw him join the Brabham Formula One team at the age of 16, learning the ropes before traveling the world as a mechanic with McLaren, and finally transitioning across into a more business and operations focused role with Red Bull Formula One Team.

After a move to Australia from the UK, Richard’s extensive experience wasn’t ignored, and saw him being appointed as Professor of Practice with UNSW, and invited to lead a high-profile student project - manufacturing and building a solar electric vehicle with Sunswift racing. With his desire to elevate the professionalism of the project, and pushing the boundaries of innovation, Richard continues to bring a flare for innovating and inventing.
