Shaun Bassett, Partner at PieLab Council Capital is the latest guest to join Steve for a Coffee Conversation.
Having moved from the Northern Territory to finish school in Brisbane, Shaun spent 14 years working in the banking sector (predominantly for Macquarie Bank), focusing mostly on the SME segment as National Head of Residential Real Estate. It was 2016 when PieLab was born as a small boutique investment fund with 4 team members, one of those being Shaun.
In their chat, Shaun talks about PieLab’s journey – constantly looking for opportunities to invest in SME businesses providing products and services and reflects on their experience of raising capital in a virtual environment (due to lockdowns or restrictions) and being pleasantly surprised at how quickly people adapted and became more willing to interact virtually.
