The Modern Manufacturing Initiative (MMI) is a $1.3b funding program, part of the Federal Government’s Modern Manufacturing Strategy that aims to build a strong and resilient manufacturing sector in Australia.

The MMI will provide funding for large manufacturing projects with broad benefits across the sector, specifically in the national priority areas of:

  • space and medical productsSpace
  • Medical Products
  • Resources Technology and Critical Minerals Processing
  • Food and Beverage
  • Recycling and Clean Energy
  • Defence

Funding of $1m to $20m is available for projects on a matched funding basis, so eligible projects must have a minimum $2m expenditure.

The application dates for each priority area will vary but will only be open for a limited time.  The Space and Medical Products applications are now open with closing dates of 22 March 2021 and 29 March 2021 respectively.
