Gary Carroll, Managing Director of G8 Education Ltd
As a proud Queenslander graduating from the University of Queensland, Gary’s career began in the tax division of an accounting firm, before progressing into project finance and corporate finance roles at Citi Bank.
After a role as GM – Business Services with Flight Centre Ltd, Gary joined Super Retail Group Ltd where he spent working across various roles for over 10 years. He was then presented with an opportunity to join G8 Education as CFO, which he performed for a 6-month period before taking on the role of CEO.
Reflecting on the journey of G8 Education over the past 18 months, Gary looks back on the period when national wide lockdowns were imposed to slow the spread of COVID-19 in 2020, which saw queues out the door of G8’s centres of parents wanting to exist the childcare sector. As occupancy of dropped to 30% overnight, Gary and his team centred on re-engineering the business to focus on how the business could best support the centre staff and families during a time of significant uncertainty.
