Bond Software co-founder and Chief Executive Officer, Dave Hickling, has been at the helm of the company since 2000.

With an original focus on developing bespoke portals and websites for member-based organisations, Bond Software has gone on to become a rising star within the customer relationship management (CRM) software sector.

This unfolded after Dave and his co-founder spotted a gap in the market for a purpose-built CRM, completely engineered to solve the unique challenges of member organisations.

We asked Dave to share Bond Software’s journey, and where this innovative tech company is headed…

What does Bond Software do?

We are a CRM platform for member-driven organisations. Our CRM does everything you could want your CRM to do, but it also has every feature that a member organisation could ever need. A member organisation could be a professional association, union, or any public or private sector organisation where people collaborate on products, services, events, resources, programs, and so on.

Our core product, BondMX, is the membership experience platform that sits on top of our CRM. Combined, they act as a single source of truth for our clients – becoming the go-to place for every aspect of customer (member) relations.

What sets BondMX apart from others?

Before BondMX, member organisations would have their usual CRM and then a separate – often clunky – membership portal. This is double the cost, double the time to manage, and makes it very difficult to get a unified view of the organisation.

BondMX is highly curated to solve all these problems while delivering an immersive experience for members. Once they log in, they’re presented with relevant information that’s geared based on their profile, location, membership level, or any other attribute.

BondMX comes ready-made with:

  • seamless access management
  • in-built B2B marketplace
  • ability to share news and information
  • people/company directories
  • collaboration groups
  • and much more

Beyond centralisation and security, BondMX has a mobile app so members can stay connected on the go – without the risk of sharing confidential information in social media apps.

Because we know learning is a priority for member organisations, we also created a built-in learning management system complete with micro-credentialing. So members can learn in the CRM, receive their credential, share it to their social media, and maintain it all in the one place.

We’ve designed the platform to be intuitive, engaging, and genuinely useful. It’s all about helping our clients deliver the best possible online experience for their members. More engagement means better data, and what matters is creating an experience that drives interaction. That’s exactly what BondMX offers: a sophisticated, modern, mobile-first solution.

How has RSM supported Bond Software’s journey?

We were referred to RSM from an industry professional to help with our research and development (R&D) tax claims. RSM has an excellent reputation, and we do a lot of R&D so it was important for us to get right.

We’d worked with larger firms before, but found that RSM’s R&D tax team understood the process better than anyone we’ve come across.

What’s it like to work with the RSM team?

R&D tax was always a challenge because it’s so complex and we’re so busy. But Peter Xi, William Lu, and the team made everything easy for us.

The process was very efficient – they guided us through every step, ticked all the boxes, and made sure all the right information went into our claim. The claim resulted in a nice refund, which allows us to invest more in R&D.

What’s next for Bond Software?

We’ve come across several potential clients in our sector who have over-invested in their CRM and cannot, for any number of reasons, implement a new CRM. However, they want all the features of BondMX.

So, in coming months, BondMX will become completely portable – allowing our superior member experience platform to sit on top of any CRM, and enabling a wider range of member organisations to reap the benefits.
