On 9 June 2020, Hoi Wai Khin, Director, and Riven Ooi, Manager, of RSM, shared measures to minimise risks when operating from cloud and adopting technology. This Webinar was jointly organised by RSM Singapore and the Information Systems Audit and Control Association (“ISACA”).

“Is it safe to use my personal phone for work?” “Is my WIFI safe for work?” “How do my employees interact and collaborate with external partners?” These are some of the questions Wai Khin and Riven addressed as companies adjust to the Work from Home (“WFH”) order and Social Distancing measure, which are mandated by our Government. But however much we strategise, we have to come back to this fundamental question: “How do you ensure these future-ready strategies do not introduce new business risks?”

With the WFH work arrangement and social distancing measure, many companies are looking to technology to operate. As a result, there is a significant increase in the number of online events, e-learning classes, and Zoom meetings; consumers are also making purchases on the web.

Wai Khin highlighted the importance of pre-empting risks that could potentially compromise online security.   As COVID-19 has accelerated digitisation of businesses around the world, we have to remain vigilant, and be mindful of the associated risks. The following checklists may help businesses get started on this important journey:

Checklist to address regulatory, reputation and report risk

Checklist to address unauthorized access risk
