Keen to find out more about Steve?

Steve is usually on the other side of the couch talking to his clients - we flip things around and put Steve in the spotlight as we get to know him better.

The last two years have been challenging for everyone. What’s a highlight you’ve had through this time?

One of my biggest concerns at the time the pandemic really hit was how do we keep the momentum in building our brand presence. Out of that thinking came our Coffee Conversation Series – a series of conversations with business leaders talking about their own business challenges and opportunities arising due to the pandemic. These have now been part of our regular social media strategy and proved very effective (and also a lot of fun!).

What is your leadership style?

I describe myself as an inclusive leader although I am not afraid to make a decision.

I think important attributes in a leader are to include others in the decision-making process and make sure people feel “heard” although it is essential to be decisive when needed.

What are your plans for the Brisbane office? Where would you like to see it in 2030?

We have a wonderful opportunity to take our fair market share through our partner-led and inclusive approach to working with our teams and clients. Our brand is still “fresh” which means we can put our own stamp on it in the market. By 2030 I would like to see RSM Brisbane as the most sought after firm in our chosen markets outside of the Big 4 from both a client and people perspective

RSM marks 100 years in business on 27 March 2022. As the new leader of one of the firm’s leading capital city offices, what does this milestone mean to you?

It is a milestone few other businesses attain and in the professional services sector I believe we stand alone. In Brisbane we are only 8 years into our evolution as a business but being part of a firm celebrating its centenary creates a truly unique value proposition for us, “a 100 year old start up”.

When you can travel again, where would you like to go?

I am going to London for my son’s wedding in March this year!

What do you do to unwind?

Red wine, dining out, and scuba diving (although not all at the same time).
