Biography

Con is a Director of Tax and Managing Partner of Perth. Con has over 25 years' experience at both a national and international level in providing taxation advice and specialist tax consulting services. Con has gained experience in a diverse range of industries, focusing particularly on:

  • mining and resources
  • property and construction
  • technology

Con specialises in advising public companies (listed and unlisted), large private enterprises and high net wealth individuals. Con has also acquired significant experience in other professional disciplines (business recovery, management consulting and project management). 

Con has been with RSM since 2003. Prior to joining RSM, Con held a role in executive management at public listed company Homeloans and was an account director at Deloitte. 

Con Paoliello is a Partner of RSM Australia Partners and a Director of RSM Australia Pty Ltd.

Solutions Con provides

Con is responsible for the taxation advice of many of RSM’s major clients. He has expertise in providing tax compliance and consulting services to private and public sector organisations in the following areas:

  • capital gains tax and rollovers
  • tax consolidation
  • thin capitalisation
  • international structuring
  • corporate restructures
  • research and development 

Significant projects

Major projects and advice Con has been responsible for include:

  • market takeover of precious gems producer for $300m by UK listed company
  • disposal of joint venture interests in a producing nickel mine
  • outbound international structuring advice with respect to investments into Democratic Republic of Congo, Uruguay, Malaysia, Mongolia, USA, UK, Chile and China
  • restructure of a taxi co-operative to an unlisted public company, reconstruction of share capital, issue of options to directors and management, return of capital to shareholders and takeover of organisation by Singapore listed company
