Joanne Gilbert
Partner - Albany

Joanne is a Partner in the Albany Business Advisory division.

She is a trusted business advisor with deep experience supporting regional SMEs, middle-market enterprises, and high-net-worth individuals through every stage of the business life cycle.

Based in Western Australia, she specialises in business structuring, succession planning, financial forecasting, and the implementation of digital accounting solutions to improve cashflow and performance insights.

With a passion for working closely with clients, Joanne brings a practical, people-first approach to business advisory. Her strength lies in helping clients understand their financial position, enabling them to make confident, well-informed decisions about their business growth, structure, and future.

"Being a trusted advisor is a privilege I never take for granted. I’m proud to stand beside my clients as they face both challenges and successes."

Joanne supports clients across agriculture, not-for-profit, transport, and other regional industries with tailored advice on succession planning, business restructuring, and financial management. She works with small and medium-sized enterprises to implement budgeting tools and modern accounting software, ensuring that systems not only meet compliance needs but also support effective decision-making and cashflow planning.

Her goal is to empower business owners by simplifying complex financial concepts, improving internal processes, and establishing structures that are robust, scalable, and aligned to long-term goals. Joanne’s hands-on and collaborative style ensures that clients feel supported at every step.

Joanne began her accounting career as a graduate in a firm servicing both city and regional clients, gaining early exposure to the diverse challenges businesses face across sectors. She later worked in the financial services team at a major Australian university, where she was responsible for consolidating and reporting on the budgets of multiple faculties—an experience that sharpened her analytical and reporting skills on a large scale.

Her return to public practice reflects her passion for working directly with business owners. Joanne has since played a key role in helping clients successfully transition through major milestones, including succession, expansion, and digitisation.

Joanne has helped numerous family-owned businesses restructure through succession or scale-up phases, often implementing modern cloud-based accounting tools and strategic planning processes along the way. She takes pride in seeing clients go from uncertainty to clarity—from managing day-to-day operations reactively to understanding their numbers and confidently planning for the future.

Joanne values the relationships she builds with her clients, many of whom she supports over the long term. She finds fulfilment in seeing their progress and being a part of their journey—helping them grow, adapt, and navigate key transitions.

Joanne grew up on a farm in Katanning and proudly claims to have started her truck-driving career at age seven—steering a paddock truck while her father worked behind her. That early experience sparked a can-do attitude that still defines her today.

Now a mother of two teenage sons, she spends weekends cheering them on at AFL and cricket matches, and is actively involved in their sporting clubs. She also enjoys watching live sport and staying connected to her community.

Jo has held various roles in community organisations, including:

  • Director, South Coast Natural Resource Management Inc.
  • Board, Albany Chamber of Commerce & Industry
  • Committee Member, Australian Institute of Company Directors, Great Southern Committee
  • Finance Committee, Great Southern Grammar
