Leading professional services firm RSM Australia will enter the new financial year with a strengthened senior leadership team, announcing 23 new leadership appointments to commence July 1.

Incoming RSM Australia Chief Executive Partner Robert Miano said the portfolio of promotions reflect the firm’s commitment to providing growth opportunities that support staff progression and attract top-tier talent.

“These new appointments align with our overarching strategic focus on growth and diversification, and strengthen our position as the first-choice advisor for middle market businesses in Australia,” Mr Miano said.

“The significant number of internal promotions is a clear reflection of our commitment towards the career development of our people. Many of those promoted have developed through substantial tenure with RSM, growing with the firm and consistently delivering value.

“By investing and nurturing our talent, we also continue to attract top tier external talent. We  look forward to welcoming Tair Kuanyshev who has significant experience in delivering agile analytics solutions for commercial due diligence and joins as a Director, Corporate Finance.”

The new appointments coincide with a change in leadership, with outgoing Chief Executive Partner Jamie O’Rourke retiring after 34 years at RSM - the last nine of which were spent leading the firm.

Mr O’Rourke said he is proud of the extraordinary growth and change he has seen across RSM’s national practice throughout his 25-year tenure as a partner at the firm.

“I am continually impressed by our people and their commitment to meticulously and methodically delivering exceptional client solutions,” Mr O’Rourke said.

“It is this culture of collaboration and client care among staff that has guided the firm through a period of great growth, which will continue under the guidance of our incoming Chief Executive Partner Robert Miano.”

Mr Miano who takes over at the helm from 1 July, will become just the eighth person to lead RSM in the firm’s 103-year history, reflecting a longstanding trend of longevity and staff retention.

He said the firm’s investment into attracting and retaining high-quality talent has shaped a strong company culture, exhibited by the high number of internal promotions.

“Jamie has set a strong standard of investing in our people and as I step into the Chief Executive Partner role, I’m committed to continue to prioritise growth within our teams,” Mr Miano said.

“We are also pleased to announce such a significant number of business advisory appointments, reflecting the strong demand we are seeing to provide support and advice to our clients  in the current economic landscape.”

In addition to the new appointments, National Head of Tax Danette Cheung will step into the role of Sydney Managing Partner, with current Sydney Managing Partner Anthony Smith retiring from the firm at 30 June.

Brisbane Partner Andy Graham has been re-elected for a further three-year term to the National Executive. He will be joined by Sydney Partner Dace Harris who commences his first three-year term effective 1 July.
