Client story: ASX-listed Gold Producer - Climate scenario analysis

The brief  

An ASX-listed gold producer operating a portfolio of open pit and underground mines across Australia sought support to assess its exposure to climate-related physical and transition risks. 

The initial analysis completed in 2024 provided a forward-looking view of climate impacts on key operations. In 2025, the company required an updated assessment incorporating new data, evolving expectations and alignment with AASB S2 scenario requirements.

Outcome  

• We completed a qualitative scenario analysis assessing how physical and transition risks could evolve across multiple time horizons and affect key operational areas.
• In 2025, we refreshed the analysis using updated data and strengthened the accompanying disclosures to reflect current expectations.
• The combined work provided the company with a clear, up-to-date view of its climate risk exposure and a set of refined disclosures suitable for integration into future AASB S2 reporting and assurance preparation.
