2025 is shaping up to be quite a roller coaster year.

With extreme weather events, trade wars, an election, and even a new pope, the news cycle has been relentless, making it challenging to keep track of important updates amidst the chaos.

For those of us living in regional Australia, it's tempting to tune it all out and enjoy the peace and quiet. To make it easier, the team here at Busselton has hand picked some insights that we think you’ll find relevant.

Now that the financial year has come to a close, we’re reflecting on the past six months at our Busselton office." and for MR please update the same sentence to "As the new financial year begins, we’ve been looking back on the past six months at our Margaret River office and all that we’ve accomplished.

We hope you enjoy reading this newsletter and find the contents useful and informative.

LEADERSHIP CHANGES

This year has been a time of change, both for the world and for RSM Australia. On June 30, we bid goodbye to our Chief Executive Partner, Jamie O’Rourke.

Jamie began his career with RSM 34 years ago in the regional office of Goulburn before moving to Sydney in 1997. As our national leader for the past nine years, Jamie guided us through a period of significant growth and change, including managing the disruptions and challenges brought about by the pandemic. Throughout his tenure, he maintained and strengthened RSM’s strong presence in regional Australia, stating, “While we continue to grow across all areas, our regional footprint is unique and integral to our national identity.”

We are pleased to announce Robert Miano as our new Chief Executive Partner, effective July 1, 2025.

With over 25 years of experience in audit and corporate advisory work, Robert is well-equipped to lead RSM Australia into the future.

LOCAL TEAM NEWS

Exciting changes are afoot at RSM in our Busselton and Margaret River offices.

Over the past six months, we've welcomed new faces and bid farewell to familiar ones. Libby Lechte has said goodbye once again! This time, she assures us it's for good as she steps into retirement.

We are thrilled to introduce Jacinta Mott as our new Senior Administration Assistant, along with our talented accountants Amanda Rocco and Chamilka Munasinghe. While we’re sad to see Obie Herring leave us to pursue his university studies in Perth, we’re excited for him and can’t wait to see all the amazing things he’ll accomplish. Here’s to new beginnings and the continued growth of our team!

The RSM team have been quite busy in the South West community over the past six months.

In March, we hosted a morning tea in the office for Purple Action Day, supporting those in our community living with epilepsy, and raising funds for Epilepsy WA. We also had a few RSM volunteers support the Ironman event. And of course, we are regular blood donors whenever the Lifeblood Pop-up Donor Centre comes to town.

Supporting the business community is an important aspect of our work at RSM. In March, Grant Avery presented a Federal Budget Breakfast at the Bunbury and Busselton Chambers of Commerce and Industry. Approximately 30 people attended each event. The presentations discussed the current economic environment, the challenges and opportunities businesses face, and the impacts of the Federal Budget on Western Australia.
