2025 is shaping up to be quite a roller coaster year.
With extreme weather events, trade wars, an election, and even a new pope, the news cycle has been relentless, making it challenging to keep track of important updates amidst the chaos.
For those of us living in regional Australia, it's tempting to tune it all out and enjoy the peace and quiet. To make it easier, the team here at Gosford has hand picked some insights that we think you’ll find relevant.
The past six months have been an exciting time for the Gosford office. From well-deserved promotions to supporting our local business community or even hitting the pickleball courts, it has been a flurry of activity.
At the same time, our thoughts are with all those affected by the recent flooding across Taree and surrounding areas. We extend our heartfelt support to our clients, colleagues, friends, and their families during this challenging time.
For those with an interest in farming, make sure you read the article written by our Managing Partner, Matthew Moore to learn about the difference between small-scale and hobby farming!
We hope you enjoy reading this newsletter and find the contents useful and informative.
Best regards,
The team at RSM in Gosford
LEADERSHIP CHANGES
This year has been a time of change, both for the world and for RSM Australia. On June 30, we bid goodbye to our Chief Executive Partner, Jamie O’Rourke.
Jamie began his career with RSM 34 years ago in the regional office of Goulburn before moving to Sydney in 1997. As our national leader for the past nine years, Jamie guided us through a period of significant growth and change, including managing the disruptions and challenges brought about by the pandemic. Throughout his tenure, he maintained and strengthened RSM’s strong presence in regional Australia, stating, “While we continue to grow across all areas, our regional footprint is unique and integral to our national identity.”
We are pleased to announce Robert Miano as our new Chief Executive Partner, effective July 1, 2025.
With over 25 years of experience in audit and corporate advisory work, Robert is well-equipped to lead RSM Australia into the future.

LOCAL TEAM NEWS
We are thrilled to share that Courtney McKinnon was promoted to Director in January. This appointment is a well-deserved recognition of Courtney’s hard work and commitment to supporting her clients with their superannuation.
Here at RSM, we’re big believers in team spirit. If you ever swing by the tennis courts near our office in Gosford, you might have spotted us having a blast playing pickleball as part of a recent team-building day. It is always great to connect with each other in fun ways.
One of the ways we support the Gosford business community is by providing essential information on market trends, the economy, and future business considerations.
Earlier this year, we hosted a successful Succession Planning event at Gosford RSL, featuring insightful presentations from Simon Hardie, Alicia Smith, and RSM Economist Devika Shivadekar.
Stay tuned for more events like this. We encourage all community members to join us for future sessions to gain valuable insights and network with industry experts.
