RSM's local newsletter.

It has been a full-on start to 2026 – how are things tracking along for you?

As we approach the end of the financial year, it’s a particularly busy time for many businesses, with a focus on finalising key decisions and planning ahead.

There remain a range of tax and superannuation opportunities to consider before 30 June, alongside emerging changes such as the introduction of Payday Super and the implications of the recent Federal Budget. For regional businesses in particular, understanding how these developments impact day-to-day operations and long-term planning will be critical in navigating the months ahead.

To make your life just a little bit easier, we've put together some updated resources that our team thinks will help you build resilience and stay strong. We hope they provide some clarity and confidence as we face future challenges.

Best regards,

The team at RSM in Ballarat

LOCAL TEAM NEWS

We are proud to celebrate the dedication and achievements of our Ballarat team.

Congratulations to Sandra Campbell on an outstanding 35 years of service, and Laura Westbrook on reaching 20 years, two remarkable milestones and a testament to their commitment and contribution. We also acknowledge Carson Dodds, Lucas Brain, Eliza Henricksen and Bryce Martin, who each celebrated their five-year anniversaries with RSM.

To balance a busy period, the office swapped spreadsheets for sunshine with a fun-filled afternoon of Barefoot Bowls, a great chance to connect outside the day-to-day. We also marked Harmony Week, celebrating the cultural diversity that makes our workplace so vibrant. A shared lunch table featured a delicious spread from around the world, including Filipino favourites (Pancit Bihon, Puto and Lumpia), Vietnamese rice paper rolls, Indian samosas, Scottish treats, Nepali momo, and classic Aussie pies.

Our Ballarat team has stayed closely connected to both industry developments and local business networks in recent months.

John Findlay, Bryce Martin and Jason Luu attended Gekko Systems’ 30th Anniversary Open Day, hearing updates on innovation, global operations and Gaia Envirotech’s work. Jason also attended the Pathfinder Conference, while Luke Broadbent represented the team at evokeAG to explore emerging trends shaping agriculture.

Locally, in March we hosted a Superannuation and Economic Update Seminar at The Grand Ballarat, followed by a future of finance session at Federation University, bringing together business owners and finance leaders for practical discussion and insights. Beyond events and education, we were proud to support regional communities through sponsorship and participation. RSM sponsored HarvFest in Mininera, supporting the Streatham and Skipton communities following recent bushfires, an important event centred on resilience and connection. Our team also attended Farmer’s Day Out at the Ballarat Showgrounds, connecting with local farmers, producers and agribusinesses across the Central Highlands and strengthening ties across the region.
