The ARENA Launchpad Program Startup Funding Round is designed to accelerate the development and commercialisation of early-stage Australian clean energy technologies. It provides funding to startups and innovators developing solutions that support Australia's renewable energy transition, emissions reduction objectives and clean technology industry growth.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
The objectives of the program are to:
- Accelerate the technical and commercial readiness of innovative renewable energy and clean technology products.
- Address funding gaps faced by early-stage companies and reduce barriers to attracting future public and private investment.
- Increase the volume, diversity and quality of Australia’s early-stage startup pipeline, aligned with ARENA’s Investment Plan and Strategic Priorities:
- Unlock ultra low-cost solar
- Optimise the transition to renewable electricity
- Commercialise renewable hydrogen
- Support the transition to low emissions metals
- Decarbonisation transport
Eligible projects may include activities that:
- Advance the development, testing or demonstration of renewable energy and clean technology solutions.
- Validate technical performance and commercial viability prior to broader market deployment.
Applicants must apply for a $500,000 Baseline Grant and may also request a Top Up Grant of up to $500,000, providing total grant funding of between $500,000 and $1 million.
No matched funding requirements, however, applicants that can provide cash contributions towards the Application Activities may be considered higher merit.
Applicants must hold an ABN and be one of the following:
- An incorporated Australian entity, which can also include an Australian subsidiary of an international entity that can demonstrate a presence and commitment to operating and commercialising its technology or solution in Australia;
- Be a for-profit entity;
- Warrant that they are the owner or developer of the related technology, product or solution, and have freedom to operate with regard to any IP or assets involved.
