February 28 2020 - RSM Australia (RSM), one of the largest mid-tier accounting firms in Australia, has announced the appointment of Sam Mohammad as national head of indirect tax and Srdjan Dragutinovic as director of data analytics.

Based in Brisbane, Sam brings more than 16 years of experience in providing clients with practical and easy-to-understand advice about GST, payroll tax, and fuel tax credits, with a particular focus on the energy, government, infrastructure, mining, and property (both residential and commercial) sectors.

Sam has advised both local and multinational organisations as well as government departments and agencies, including the state of Queensland, on a number of projects such as Queen’s Wharf in Brisbane and the Herston Quarter development project. He has also advised on and successfully obtained GST private rulings and duty exemption requests on a range of complex matters.

Sam is a current member of the Tax Institute’s Queensland state taxes sub-committee and has been a previous member of the Australian Taxation Office’s fuel tax liaison group. He is an admitted solicitor of the Supreme Court in Queensland and, prior to joining RSM, worked as a director at a big four firm, specialising in state taxes.

Srdjan who is Melbourne-based has more than 20 years global experience in advanced analytics, supporting strategic and operational decision-making. He has also worked for a number of big four firms in their analytics practices.

Srdjan has significant experience assisting companies in becoming data-driven and insight-led, linking insights to outcomes including understanding opportunities to monetise data, applying advanced analytical approaches to address compliance issues including fraud, anti-money laundering and risk, carrying out data quality assessments leveraging best practice and improving return-on-investment on marketing spend through market mix modelling.

These new lateral appointments are in addition to the eight directors, two Principals and an Associate Director appointed on 1 January 2020, bringing the total leadership count to 153.
