RSM, one of the largest mid-tier accounting firms in Australia, has announced its expansion into regional Queensland, opening an office in Toowoomba.

The expansion comes as RSM consolidates a two-year association with Toowoomba accounting firm Laird Advisory by merging the local practice with the national accounting firm.

Kim Hutchinson, National Chairman, RSM, said, “Toowoomba is a key regional market in close proximity to RSM's Brisbane office, making it an ideal platform to launch the Queensland regional offering. RSM has extensive regional experience across other parts of Australia with expertise in a diverse range of industries, and a strong background in helping regional businesses grow.

“The Toowoomba office, and its clients, will benefit from personalised service from local practitioners combined with the services and backing from a national and international firm.”

William (Will) Laird will be heading up the Toowoomba office. Will is a leading commercial and tax advisor to privately-owned businesses throughout South East Queensland with more than 16 years’ experience in the industry.

Will Laird said, “The merger with RSM will offer significant benefits to businesses in the region by providing them access to a wider range of services. The Toowoomba economy is strong, particularly because of the diversity of industries in the area. The region is also undergoing a large infrastructure program, which includes the new airport now in operation and the much anticipated second range crossing, making Toowoomba a future transport hub.  All of this means opportunities for local businesses to grow – this is where RSM can help.”

Kim Hutchinson said, “RSM continues to develop its footprint in Queensland, complementing its comprehensive national offering.

“RSM is also looking at future expansion in key regional centres in the south and west of Queensland.”
