2025 is shaping up to be quite a roller coaster year.
With extreme weather events, trade wars, an election, and even a new pope, the news cycle has been relentless, making it challenging to keep track of important updates amidst the chaos.
For those of us living in regional Australia, it's tempting to tune it all out and enjoy the peace and quiet. To make it easier, the team here at Northam has hand picked some insights that we think you’ll find relevant.
It has been an eventful six months here at the Northam office! We’ve wrapped up our year-end tasks with the precision of a calculator, improved our processes, and even made our software work harder.
Thanks to everyone’s hard work, we’ve strengthened client relationships and kept everything running smoothly. Looking forward, we’re gearing up for tax season and continuing to find new ways to make numbers more fun. Here’s to the next six months!
With the close of the financial year behind us, we’ve taken time to look back on the last six months at our Northam office.
We hope you enjoy reading this newsletter and find the contents useful and informative.
Best regards,
The team at RSM in Northam
LEADERSHIP CHANGES
This year has been a time of change, both for the world and for RSM Australia. On June 30, we bid goodbye to our Chief Executive Partner, Jamie O’Rourke.
Jamie began his career with RSM 34 years ago in the regional office of Goulburn before moving to Sydney in 1997. As our national leader for the past nine years, Jamie guided us through a period of significant growth and change, including managing the disruptions and challenges brought about by the pandemic. Throughout his tenure, he maintained and strengthened RSM’s strong presence in regional Australia, stating, “While we continue to grow across all areas, our regional footprint is unique and integral to our national identity.”
We are pleased to announce Robert Miano as our new Chief Executive Partner, effective July 1, 2025.
With over 25 years of experience in audit and corporate advisory work, Robert is well-equipped to lead RSM Australia into the future.

For the month of May, we are engaging in Walk for Autism. We endeavour to walk 7k steps a day for the 70% of Autistic people experiencing mental health issues. With every step we take along with every dollar we raise, we help create an autism-friendly world. A world where Autistic people feel comfortable and free to be their authentic selves.
We named a boardroom in honor of our former partner, Sandy Hatherly. To celebrate, we welcomed him to our Northam office for a morning tea and proudly showed him the room dedicated to him. It was a small gesture recognising his lasting legacy and significant contributions over the years. Sandy was deeply moved and truly honored by the recognition.
