RSM's local newsletter.

2025 is shaping up to be quite a roller coaster year.

With extreme weather events, trade wars, an election, and even a new pope, the news cycle has been relentless, making it challenging to keep track of important updates amidst the chaos.

For those of us living in regional Australia, it's tempting to tune it all out and enjoy the peace and quiet. To make it easier, the team here at Port Lincoln has hand picked some insights that we think you’ll find relevant.

As we start the new financial year, we find ourselves reflecting on the past six months at our Port Lincoln office.

We hope you enjoy reading this newsletter and find the contents useful and informative.

Best regards,

The team at RSM in Port Lincoln

LEADERSHIP CHANGES

This year has been a time of change, both for the world and for RSM Australia. On June 30, we bid goodbye to our Chief Executive Partner, Jamie O’Rourke.

Jamie began his career with RSM 34 years ago in the regional office of Goulburn before moving to Sydney in 1997. As our national leader for the past nine years, Jamie guided us through a period of significant growth and change, including managing the disruptions and challenges brought about by the pandemic. Throughout his tenure, he maintained and strengthened RSM’s strong presence in regional Australia, stating, “While we continue to grow across all areas, our regional footprint is unique and integral to our national identity.”

We are pleased to announce Robert Miano as our new Chief Executive Partner, effective July 1, 2025.

With over 25 years of experience in audit and corporate advisory work, Robert is well-equipped to lead RSM Australia into the future.

  • Sharon Baldwin | Toowoomba, Business Advisory
  • Amanda Beckhouse | Wagga Wagga, Business Advisory
  • Ross Dixon | Albury, Business Advisory
  • Kara Golding | Geraldton, Business Advisory
  • Reagan Manns | Moora/Jurien Bay, Business Advisory

LOCAL TEAM NEWS

We have had a few big reasons to celebrate in the Port Lincoln office over the past six months.

We are thrilled to announce that Michael Tarin has been promoted to Director, effective 1st July 2025.

Michael has been with the RSM in Port Lincoln team for 4 years, and with his strong background in agribusiness in particular, has been a significant contributor to our growing success. Congratulations Michael on this well-deserved Senior Leadership role.

Tori Dahlitz and her partner Harry welcomed their little boy, Harley Max, to the world on 24 January 2025. Harley has already won us all over, being on his best behaviour when visiting the office.

Pauline Hurrell has passed her Graduate Diploma of Chartered Accounting and is now a qualified Chartered Accountant.

Katrina Scholz has also completed her studies, successfully passing her Bachelor of Accounting.

Amazing achievements for both ladies, juggling work, study and family commitments.

On a sadder note, Senior Accountant Cooper Heath has left us to relocate interstate. We wish him and his partner, Georgia, all the best on their next adventure.

In community news, the year has been off to a busy start.

Michael Tarin hosted some of our farming clients on a tour of the impressive new Agfert Distribution Facility in Cowell in March, along with Tim Gurney and the Agfert team.

Michael Tarin and Bryson Keeley are pleased to be continuing their respective committee roles of Public Officer and Treasurer of the Port Lincoln Chamber of Commerce & Tourism this year.

We have many staff who tirelessly volunteer their time with local sporting clubs, and we'd like to give them a shout-out!

  • Jed Carson - Marble Range Football Club Junior President
  • Bryson Keeley – Marble Range Football Club Treasurer
  • Steve James - Tasman Imperial Sporting Club (Football) Deputy Chair
  • Nicki Kidman - Tasman Imperial Sporting Club (Netball) Finance Director
  • Cherie Bascomb - Boston Netball Club Committee Member & A1 Team Manager, Port Lincoln Netball Association Delegate
