RSM's local newsletter.
2025 is shaping up to be quite a roller coaster year.
With extreme weather events, trade wars, an election, and even a new pope, the news cycle has been relentless, making it challenging to keep track of important updates amidst the chaos.
For those of us living in regional Australia, it's tempting to tune it all out and enjoy the peace and quiet. To make it easier, the team here at Port Macquarie has hand picked some insights that we think you’ll find relevant.
It has been an extremely difficult period for our friends, family and clients on the Mid North Coast, up the Coffs Coast and down to the Hunter.
Our continuing thoughts and best wishes go out to all affected by the devasting floods. It just feels like yesterday that we were grappling with the 2021 floods and bushfires, COVID and the cyclone watch earlier this year.
It has been heartening to see the community spirit alive and well, with everyone pitching in to help out and offer the support needed such as a warm cup of coffee, a yarn, or those who were able to get on the tools and help with the clean-up effort.
If anyone needs ongoing “pro bono” guidance to navigate the path to business recovery, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
We wish everyone continuing strength and stability in the months ahead.
Tim, Liz and the Port Macquarie Restructuring and Recovery team wish everyone well for the new financial year.
We hope you enjoy reading this newsletter and find the contents useful and informative.
Best regards,
The team at RSM in Port Macquarie
LEADERSHIP CHANGES
This year has been a time of change, both for the world and for RSM Australia. On June 30, we bid goodbye to our Chief Executive Partner, Jamie O’Rourke.
Jamie began his career with RSM 34 years ago in the regional office of Goulburn before moving to Sydney in 1997. As our national leader for the past nine years, Jamie guided us through a period of significant growth and change, including managing the disruptions and challenges brought about by the pandemic. Throughout his tenure, he maintained and strengthened RSM’s strong presence in regional Australia, stating, “While we continue to grow across all areas, our regional footprint is unique and integral to our national identity.”
We are pleased to announce Robert Miano as our new Chief Executive Partner, effective July 1, 2025.
With over 25 years of experience in audit and corporate advisory work, Robert is well-equipped to lead RSM Australia into the future.

LOCAL TEAM NEWS
Whilst things have certainly been difficult, we have some brighter news to share from our team.
Liz Inman is celebrating her first anniversary with RSM and completing her next module (with distinction, no less!) towards her CA designation. Well done Liz!
We also welcomed our first work placement student for the year from St. Columba Anglican College, adding fresh talent and bringing divergence of thought to the team.
At the Business NSW Technology Forum at Charles Sturt University, we explored the future of technology and AI in business.
We are progressively implementing various applications for our service to clients in our work. This ensures we continue to provide price sensitive and market leading business recovery, restructuring, insolvency, and consulting services throughout the regions.
