The Victorian Government’s Energy Innovation Fund supports the commercialisation of innovative, emerging renewable energy technologies in Victoria, required to meet the ‘net-zero emissions by 2045’ target.

Round 3 is dedicated to industrial electrification, with a focus on the food and beverage processing and manufacturing sector. That is, projects must deliver the replacement of fossil fuels with electricity as an input to produce food and beverage products for human or animal consumption.

Objectives:

  • Support the achievement of Victoria’s net-zero carbon emissions target by 2045
  • Enable the roll out of transformational, high-impact emerging technologies that are aligned with Victoria’s energy and climate change policy priorities
  • Reduce reliance on volatile fossil fuel energy markets to support operational cost stability
  • Strengthen local food production and processing capacity in support of the sector’s long-term viability and boost Victorian industrial competitiveness.

The total funding pool available is $10 million. Grants are capped at $2 million per submission. Larger grants may be offered to projects that can demonstrate exceptional value.

Grant funding will cover up to 50% of eligible project expenditure.

Entities operating in the food and beverage processing and manufacturing sector in Victoria.

Entities must be registered in Australia with an ABN and can include:

  • Businesses incorporated under the Corporations Act
  • Commonwealth entities
  • Australian State or Territory owned bodies corporate or their subsidiaries
  • Australian State or Territory local governments or councils.

Joint ventures are eligible to apply. A Funding Agreement will be executed with the lead entity.
