On the evening of 24 February 2026, RSM Australia’s China Practice hosted a Lunar New Year gala dinner at Terrace on The Domain in Sydney, bringing together clients, partners, and distinguished guests to celebrate the arrival of the Year of the Fire Horse.
The event took the form of a formal sit-down dinner. In a warm and lively atmosphere, guests connected with one another, celebrated the festive season, and shared new year wishes.
New year address and looking ahead
At the opening of the evening, Mary Lai, Partner and China Practice Leader at RSM, extended her New Year greetings and expressed appreciation for the continued support of clients and partners. In her remarks, she reflected on the development of the China Practice and reaffirmed RSM’s commitment to leveraging its cross-border capabilities—supporting Chinese businesses expanding into Australia while assisting Australian enterprises entering the Chinese market.
Danette Cheung, Office Managing Partner of RSM Sydney, also welcomed guests and thanked them for their ongoing trust and collaboration. The evening was hosted by Jie Dong, Partner in Audit & Assurance, whose engaging and light-hearted style brought energy to the program.

Experiencing tradition and celebrating the new year
To create a rich festive atmosphere, the event featured a range of traditional Chinese cultural activities.
A professional calligrapher was present throughout the evening, writing auspicious New Year couplets and personalised blessings. Many guests paused to watch and took home these calligraphy pieces as meaningful gifts for the year ahead.
A vibrant lion dance performance further elevated the celebration. Accompanied by rhythmic drums and cymbals, the lively lions delivered blessings of prosperity and good fortune for the year to come.
This Lunar New Year celebration was more than a festive gathering. It also served as a valuable platform for engagement between RSM, its clients, and partners. In a relaxed setting, guests exchanged ideas, shared experiences, and strengthened professional connections.
