Australian Tax from a Global Perspective

RSM’s China Practice Group in Melbourne was pleased to host an event in conjunction with the Chinese Chamber of Commerce Australia’s Melbourne branch event on Monday 25 May, bringing together Australian Chinese business leaders and professionals for a timely discussion on Australian tax in a global context.

Image removed.We were honoured to welcome the Consul-General of the People’s Republic of China in Melbourne and the Commercial Counsellor, reinforcing the importance of strong Australia–China economic engagement. Opening remarks were delivered by Kristie Dundon representing RSM’s Melbourne office and BIAN Lei representing CCCA.

RSM’s Dr Mary Wang opened the workshop with an overview of the 2026 Federal Budget (delivered in Chinese). This was followed by insights and panel discussion. The panel featured Rick Kimberley, William Zhang, and Stan Shen, moderated by Victoria Jiang (Secretary, CCCA Victoria), with a focus on the latest Federal and Victorian Budget, particularly in Payday Super, Payroll tax, CGT, Trust, Negative gearing, R&D tax and their implications for businesses.

讨会伊始,RSM总监Mary Wang以中文解2026联邦预算案,介绍其中的重点政策变化。随后,活动进入专题分享与圆桌讨论环节。圆桌讨论由澳大利亚中国总商会维州分会秘书Victoria Jiang主持,嘉宾包括Rick KimberleyWilliam ZhangStan Shen讨论重点涵盖联邦及维多利亚州预算案的最新变化,以及发薪日养老金(Payday Super)、工资税(Payroll Tax)、资本利得税(CGT)、信托架构、负扣税(Negative Gearing)、研发税收激励(R&D Tax Incentive)等议题对企业经营带来的影响。
