Rafael is a Partner of the Assurance & Advisory division in Melbourne.

Rafael has 20 years of experience in providing quality audit and technical accounting advice, predominantly in the private sector. 

He has experience in a wide variety of industries, such as mining, manufacturing and the financial services sector, including engagements for entities that hold Australian Financial Services License (AFSL), insurance entities regulated by the Australian Prudential Regulation Authority (APRA) as well as Health Insurance entities previously regulated by the Private Health Insurance Administration Council. Rafael has an in-depth knowledge of the Australian Auditing Standards and the Australian Accounting Standards (AASs) and its application.

  • Extensive experience across  a wide variety of industries, including the following areas: audits of General purpose financial statements in compliance with the AASs and the Corporations Act 2001
  • Technical advice to audit committees, boards, and management on technical accounting matters such as the implementation of new accounting standards and assisting in addressing and developing practical solutions for such matters
  • Audits of compliance with AFSL conditions and Compliance Plans
  • Reviews pursuant to the reporting requirements specified by APRA, including an independent review of the Internal Capital Adequacy Assessment Process (ICAAP)
  • Due diligence assignments
  • Undertaking internal control and accounting system reviews
  • Assurance and Advisory Services in Melbourne


Rafael has performed financial statement audits of numerous entities, including listed and unlisted entities in the resource and mining, manufacturing and financial services and insurance sectors.

Rafael also has provided accounting advice and managed large assignments related to:

  • Accounting advise in relation to impairment assessment and testing
  • Accounting of business acquisition
  • Accounting for large disposal of business
  • Consolidation, in accordance with IFRS 10 Consolidated Financial Statements, and translation of financial statements
  • Assistance with the preparation of financial reports to ensure full compliance with IFRSs
  • Undertaking internal control and accounting system reviews
  • Due diligence assignments
