Innovation Seed Fund 2025-26

The Fund supports Western Australian innovators to develop and commercialise health and medical innovations through start-up companies.

Funding is available for activities that validate concepts, test feasibility and advance innovations toward market readiness. Project must fall within Innovation Maturity Levels (IMLs) 3 to 6.

Two funding streams are available:

• Stream 1 – Devices, Diagnostics and Digital
  • Includes novel equipment, digital tools and medical implants that improve safety, access, timelines or cost-effectiveness.
• Stream 2 – Therapeutics and Vaccines
  • Includes drugs, compounds and biologics that improve detection, treatment or prevention of health conditions.

The program aims to:

• Create high-value jobs
• Enhance WA’s biomedical support and manufacturing capacity
• Accelerate commercialisation of novel solutions

Stream 1: Grants up to $750,000 are available.

Stream 2: Grants up to $1.5 million are available.

The maximum project duration is 24 months.

Eligible applicants include:

• WA-based start-ups, spin-outs and small-to-medium enterprises (SMEs)
• Health service providers
• Universities and medical research institutes intending to commercialisation through spin outs.

Expressions of Interest (EOI) applications close 22 January 2026.
