The South Australia Sustainable Communities Program Round 1 funds projects that drive economic diversification, support innovation and growth, enhance livability and bolster community resilience in South Australia’s most vulnerable River Murray communities.

The program funds projects that drive economic diversification, support innovation and growth, enhance liveability and bolster community resilience in South Australia’s most vulnerable River Murray communities.
The objective of the program is to help mitigate the social and economic impacts of the Australian Government’s water recovery activities.
The Program has two streams:
- The Investment Feasibility stream funds planning activities such as business case development, feasibility analysis or strategy development.
- The Investment Ready stream funds infrastructure development, plant and equipment purchase or program delivery.
Grants of up to $275k are available for Stream 1 projects. Grants of up to $4.5 million are available for Stream 2 projects.
A total pool of $14 million is available for Round 1. Required co-contributions vary by applicant type.
Eligible applicants include:
- Companies and trusts
- Co-operatives
- Local governments
- Incorporated organisations or associations
- Indigenous corporations.
Projects must be located in one of the following communities:
- Renmark Paringa Council
- Berri Barmera Council
- District Council of Loxton Waikerie
- District Council of Karoonda East Murray
- Mid Murray Council
- Rural City of Murray Bridge
- Alexandrina Council
- Coorong District Council
- Gerard Community Council
- Riverland Unincorporated Area.
