Strategic Outsourcing Senior- Port Macquarie

Aaron Slater is a Strategic Outsourcing and Insolvency Senior in the Restructuring & Recovery division based in the Port Macquarie office, also servicing clients in Wagga Wagga and surrounding regional areas.  

Aaron works closely with regional small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), business owners and stakeholders to help them navigate financial distress and complex insolvency matters. Aaron specialises in corporate insolvency, voluntary administration, liquidation and small business restructuring.  

He supports directors and organisations through challenging periods by providing clear, practical advice and guiding them through formal insolvency processes. His focus is on achieving the best possible outcome for creditors, employees and all stakeholders involved while ensuring compliance with relevant regulatory frameworks.

With a strong understanding of regional business environments, Aaron is passionate about supporting local businesses and communities. He works with organisations across a wide range of industries including hospitality, not-for-profit organisations, labour hire, manufacturing and NDIS providers. His approach combines technical knowledge with a people-focused mindset, ensuring clients feel supported and informed during what can often be a difficult period for their business.

Prior to joining RSM, Aaron worked with Mingara Leisure Group at The Westport Club in Port Macquarie. During his time there he progressed rapidly from a Front of House Attendant to Duty Manager and later Human Resources Manager within 18 months. He held the HR Manager position from July 2022 until September 2025, gaining valuable experience in leadership, workforce management and business operations. This background provides Aaron with practical insight into the challenges faced by business owners and operators.

One of the aspects Aaron finds most rewarding about his role is helping employees affected by business insolvencies access unpaid wages through the Fair Entitlements Guarantee scheme. During a time when many employees fear they will lose money they have worked hard to earn, Aaron takes pride in guiding them through the process and helping them secure the entitlements owed to them.

Aaron is motivated by building strong connections with people and making a positive difference during critical moments in a business’s lifecycle. Whether assisting directors with a safe exit from their business, supporting employees through an insolvency process, or strengthening relationships within the regional business community, Aaron values the opportunity to help others navigate complex situations.

Outside of work, Aaron enjoys running, playing golf and following football. A fun fact about Aaron is that he was part of the world’s largest aqua aerobics class, earning a Guinness World Record. He also enjoys spending time with his sausage dog.
