The Clean Technology Innovation stream supports NSW businesses to pilot and demonstrate lab-proven clean technologies, accelerating their path to commercial readiness. Part of the broader Net Zero Manufacturing Initiative, it aims to boost competitiveness, attract investment and foster clean technology innovation as NSW transitions to net zero by 2050.
Projects must have a technology readiness level (TRL) of 6-9 and a commercial readiness index (CRI) of less than 4.
Eligible activities include, but are not limited to:
- Technology development and prototyping
- Construction of specific testing infrastructure
- Product verification, demonstration and deployment
- Front-end engineering design (FEED)
- Technical feasibility studies
Projects must be based in NSW and be completed within 3 years.
Grants of up to $5 million are available to cover up to 50% of project costs.
The total pool is $25 million.
Applicants must hold or have the rights to the project's IP and be one of the following:
- Commercial business;
- Universities and research organisation (via its commercialisation arm);
- Commonwealth, state, territory, local government entity; or
- International non-government organisation seeking to establish an Australian-based entity to commercialise clean technology not yet adopted in NSW.
