Office Location

Kate Tierney is a Financial Adviser in the Financial Services division in Ballarat

She has over 20 years of experience in financial advice, stockbroking, private banking, investment banking, and agricultural fund management.

Working closely with agribusiness clients, high net worth individuals, family businesses and primary producers across Western Victoria, she provides practical advice on wealth creation, retirement, succession and intergenerational planning.

Having grown up on a sheep property and continuing to operate a farming business alongside her advisory work, Kate brings a strong understanding of the financial realities facing business owners. She is known for combining investment market experience with long-term strategic planning to help clients build, protect and transfer wealth across generations.

“I believe good financial advice starts with understanding what matters most to people and their families. My role is to help clients make informed decisions today while keeping a clear focus on the opportunities and challenges that lie ahead.”

Outside of work, Kate owns and operates a farming business, which gives her first-hand insight into the demands faced by primary producers and small business owners. She also enjoys learning about history and has a long-standing interest in the events that have shaped the world.

SOLUTIONS KATE PROVIDES:

SIGNIFICANT PROJECTS

  • Kate chose roles in funds management and investment banking early in her career. She did this to better understand investment markets from the view of professionals, not advisers alone. This experience helped her gain valuable insight into how people make investment decisions. It helps her advise clients with a broader, informed view on building wealth and managing portfolios.
  • Throughout her career, Kate has worked across stockbroking, private banking and agricultural funds management with leading financial institutions, including Macquarie Group and NAB. This diverse background has allowed her to support clients with complex financial needs, particularly business owners and farming families who require integrated advice across investments, superannuation and succession planning.
  • A significant focus of Kate’s work is helping primary producers and small business owners prepare for retirement while preserving family assets and business continuity. By combining retirement planning, superannuation strategies and succession planning, she helps clients create structured pathways for transferring wealth and responsibility to the next generation.
  • Her work with agribusiness clients is strengthened by her own experience operating a farming enterprise. This practical understanding enables her to provide advice that reflects both financial objectives and the realities of running a family business, helping clients make decisions with confidence during periods of change and transition.
