Tyler Roberson
Senior Accountant - Albury

Tyler Roberson is a Senior Accountant in the Albury Business Advisory division.

Tyler began his career at RSM after completing his studies at La Trobe University and has since built his experience working with small businesses, family groups and individuals across tax compliance, accounting systems and day-to-day business support.

Tyler works closely with clients in the real estate and construction sector, as well as regional SMEs setting up or growing their operations. He is known for taking complex tax and reporting requirements and breaking them down into practical steps, helping clients understand their numbers and feel more confident in the decisions they're making. His focus is on getting the fundamentals right early, whether that's structuring a business correctly or making sure obligations aren't missed, so clients can move forward with clarity.

"I like getting into the detail with clients, so the numbers actually make sense to them, not just to me. Most of the value comes from helping people feel more in control of their business, not just meeting compliance deadlines."

Tyler assisted a client working through the potential sale of an investment property by developing tax and cashflow modelling across a range of possible outcomes. The analysis allowed the client to weigh the financial consequences of each scenario with confidence before settling on a course of action.

A cross-border engagement involving an overseas trust required Tyler to address Australian tax residency, reporting and distribution considerations, an area demanding precise technical judgement.

On a separate engagement, Tyler identified that GST credits on imported goods had gone unclaimed across a client's prior BAS lodgements. He reviewed the position, raised it with the client and corrected the treatment, securing a substantial refund.

Tyler takes a strong interest in advising business owners at the establishment stage, developing start-up strategy and operational structure tailored to the client's circumstances so the business is best positioned from day one. For one client, this brought order and sequence to an overwhelming set of competing priorities well ahead of trade commencing, allowing them to begin operating with a clear plan rather than a list of unresolved decisions.

Outside of work, Tyler keeps busy following and playing sport, with AFL, cricket and basketball among his interests. He values the team environment sport creates, something he sees reflected in the way he works with clients and colleagues.
