The CUREator BioMedTech Incubator Grant aims to accelerate the development and maturation of early-stage Australian therapeutic innovations addressing significant unmet medical needs.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
The program provides at least $500 million in funding to support projects across Australia that advance commercial-scale green iron production. Funding is available for both existing facilities and greenfield projects that aim to accelerate and add value to Australia’s iron ore industry.
Program objectives include:
- De-risking early capital investments in green iron production
- Attracting private investment to build a strong green iron industry
- Creating jobs, economic benefits and industry spill overs
- Delivering community benefits aligned with the Future Made in Australia
- Community Benefit Principles, including secure jobs, inclusive workforce development, First Nations engagement, strong local industry and transparent tax compliance.
Intended outcomes:
- Transforming national, regional and local economies through green iron production and related industrial capabilities
- Reducing emissions across the steel value chain in line with global and domestic decarbonisation goals.
Grant funding of up to $5 million per project is available across two stages:
Stage 1: Funding between $1 million and $2.5 million, disbursed in alignment of commercially relevant milestones
Stage 2: Additional top-up funding of up to $5 million is available on a competitive basis for projects that meet their Stage 1 milestones
Eligible applicants must be either:
- An Australian small to medium size enterprise – a for-profit company with less than 200 employees; or
- Researchers, not-for-profit organisations or university technology transfer offices/IP holding companies – provided they are willing to incorporate as a for-profit Australian company, if successful.
The applicant must own or have exclusive rights to the background and project intellectual property (IP) relevant to the project.
