The National DEI Taskforce leads the DEI Strategy and comprises of Partners across the business including a member of the Executive team.

The National DEI Taskforce leads the DEI strategy and includes Partners and Directors from across the business, including representation from the Executive team. The taskforce provides, governance, direction and accountability for DEI priorities and initiatives across RSM Australia.

We have Empower Committees across our different office locations which play a central role in progressing DEI initiatives across the firm.  Some of their areas of focus include:  

  • Gender equality,
  • Cultural diversity,
  • Family and Caring,
  • First Nations inclusion and reconciliation,
  • LGBTQIA+ inclusion,
  • Disability and Neurodiversity.  

These employee resource groups provide a platform for connection, knowledge sharing and professional development. The activities and initiatives they facilitate help build understanding, connection and belonging across our firm.

 Our Commitment

Gender equality is central to creating an inclusive and high‑performing workplace. We recognise the value of diverse perspectives and are committed to building an environment where people are treated fairly, feel respected and have equal opportunity to succeed regardless of gender.

 Our Actions 

We support gender equality through clear policies and practical initiatives that promote fairness, opportunity and accountability. 

Some examples include:

  • regularly reviewing remuneration to identify and address gender pay gaps, and maintaining transparency around pay and progression,
  • generous support for new parents and working carers,
  • offering a range of flexible work arrangements to support different needs and life stages,
  • targeted development opportunities such as women’s leadership programs, mentoring, coaching and networking,
  • building leadership capability to lead and develop diverse and inclusive teams.

We have made steady progress towards improving gender balance across the firm, supported by targeted initiatives and inclusive policies.

We continue to invest in mentoring and sponsorship to support the progression of women, alongside flexible work practices that enable people to balance their professional and personal commitments.

Our focus remains on creating a workplace where women feel respected, supported and have equal opportunity to progress as we continue to build a more balanced and inclusive organisation.

We provide a range of benefits and resources to support parents, carers and families, including:

  • Flexible work arrangements that accommodate different needs and life stages, including part-time arrangements, job sharing and remote work options,
  • initiatives that help create a family-friendly workplace culture,
  • Generous parental leave and support for our new parents,
  • Dedicated Wellbeing Rooms in our offices for breastfeeding and expressing,
  • Access to free education, resources and support through our partnership with Parents At Work, including webinars, courses, toolkits and a caregiver platform to help our people find childcare, elder care and other caring support when they need it.

These initiatives are designed to help our people balance their work and family commitments in a way that works for them.

We continue to strengthen support for parents and carers by reviewing our policies, listening to employee feedback and identifying opportunities to enhance flexibility and inclusion.

We are proud to be a Certified Family Inclusive Workplace, recognised through a national initiative led by Parents At Work and UNICEF Australia. This certification reflects our ongoing commitment to flexible work, parental leave, family care and wellbeing, and to building a workplace where families are supported at every stage.

At RSM, we value the knowledge, cultures and contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. We are committed to building meaningful relationships, listening and learning, and creating opportunities for our people to engage with First Nations perspectives and experiences.

We acknowledge the Traditional Owners of the lands on which we live and work and pay our respects to Elders past and present. Through our actions, we seek to foster understanding, strengthen connections and contribute to reconciliation in a respectful and meaningful way.

 Our Actions 

We support First Nations inclusion through initiatives that:

  • build cultural understanding and awareness across the firm through education, events and experiences that encourage learning, reflection and meaningful conversation;
  • recognise and celebrate significant First Nations dates and events, including NAIDOC Week and National Reconciliation Week;
  • create opportunities for our people to learn from and engage with First Nations voices, perspectives and experiences; 
  • proactively support First Nations owned clients and suppliers; and
  • foster respectful relationships and partnerships with First Nations communities and organisations.

One such partnership is with the Indigenous Literacy Foundation, helping create greater access to literacy and learning opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and communities. Through fundraising initiatives and employee engagement activities, our people come together to support the power of education, storytelling and connection, contributing to meaningful outcomes beyond our workplace.

  • Working with external disability-focused organisations to continuously expand our knowledge of how best to support workers with accessibility needs.
  • Building awareness, understanding and confidence across the firm, helping our people better support colleagues with different experiences, needs and ways of working.
  • Providing workplace adjustments and personalised support to help people perform at their best and navigate their careers successfully.
  • Promoting accessible and inclusive ways of working, recognising that flexibility and accessibility benefit everyone.
  • Fostering a culture of openness and trust, where people feel comfortable discussing their needs, seeking support and accessing the resources available to them.

Creating a truly accessible and inclusive workplace is an ongoing journey. We continue to refine our policies, practices and ways of working to better support people with disability and those who are neurodivergent. Through education, ongoing conversations and a commitment to removing barriers, we are building a workplace where people can contribute their best, grow their careers and help deliver great outcomes for our clients.
